Bude Cottages To Rent

Bude an old Cornish seaside town dating back to early Victorian times and has its own unique atmosphere of an easy going laid back charm about it, whilst at the same time has something to offer for nearly everyone from all walks of life and ages a delight for all tourists.  Back in the 19th Century it was notorious for its wreckers, who plundered ships for their cargos as they came to grief off the coast - its believed more than 80 between 1824 and 1874. In 1823 the Bude Canal was dug in order to carry beach sand - used as fertiliser - 20 miles inland to Launceston and for exporting local produce. The canal brought with it much needed new development to the town.  Today the canal is now used for pleasure-craft and fishing. The Castle overlooking Summerleaze Beach is a castellated stone mansion standing on a grassy knoll. The building now in the ownership of  Bude Town Council' lays on band concerts and fetes throughout the summer around its landscaped gardens.

There is a lovely seawater swimming pool under Summerleaze Downs which is safe for swimmers even at low tide.
