The tiny village of Mortehoe in Devon like so many in the area is mentioned in the great Domesday Book of 1086 AD. Amongst its sleepy atmosphere visitors can take a look around its delightful 13th century church.

The village also boasts its own heritage site steeped with its own maritime history. Take a stroll through the village and perhaps have a pub lunch in anyone of its 3 hostelries or just head north out of the village and take on a delightful stroll to the nearby Rockham beach.

Close to Mortehoe is Woolacombe beach much of which is owned by the National Trust it is a top favourite beach in North Devon for surfers, and is enjoyed by visitors simply wanting to enjoy the beach and its some 3 miles of long uninteruptted walks, and is also heavily steeped in history.  The villages of  Georgeham and Croyde nearby are only a short drive away and provide for some of the most stunning country and coastal scenery anywhere in Devon and give rise to quaint local village pubs serving delicious food and beverages!
